February 2009

This was something I had for lunch at a half-way stop along Kuching-Serian Road.

I thought it was a Hakka dish because of the shop name.

Well, the dish was delicious!! It was deep fried fatty pork with chilli, onions, coriander leaves (cilantro) and lime juice. The Hakka lady told me it was a recipe from Thailand with a local twist passed down from her uncle.

Looking at the picture again makes me hungry… :|

If you can’t find a parking space (coz someone stole your broom, plastic chairs, your milo-tin…), this is how you can park your car…

Go to sleep you weary hobo
Let the towns drift slowly by
Can’t you hear the steel rail humming
That’s a hobo’s lullaby

Do not think about tomorrow
Let tomorrow come and go
Tonight you’re in a nice warm boxcar
Safe from all the wind and snow
God will take care of each and everyone of you.

Go to sleep my sweet weary one….

Now, lets see, what kind of a strange looking automobile is this?

Wait, I think it is a chair.

A chair in a improvised parking lot – Kuching’s way of saying “This space is taken!”

Other than chairs, you also see rubbish bins, brooms, plastic containers etc etc…

The local council has issued warnings but still people can be so stubborn … I think the council got to start writing out fine summons to these objects for parking without a proper coup0n :-)

That is if they can find the owners first.

Cat and mouse game time ….. hehehe.

The current bad economics is taking its toil everywhere.

Even dear ol Kuching is not spared this cold wind.

Look at the pic – taken during lunch time and not a soul in site.

Tsk tsk tsk …. lets all keep our fingers crossed and pray that this cold spell will blow over real soon.

Amen!
