The company that I work for does a monthly staff gathering; to enhance rapport and bring management / rank and file closer. Normally held in the company’s conference room, the organizing is done on a round robin basis – everyone in the company gets a chance to choose what to do during the gathering.

This month, instead of having it in the conference room, the organizers chose to take it outdoors; to “kampung Bidak”, a Bidayuh village with a waterfall and brook flowing through.

The village is situated about 40 mins away from Kuching and on a bright Saturday morning, a convoy of 6 vehicles took some 20 peoples to the village. After leaving Kuching, the landscape morphed to one of green fields, jungles and rolling hills – what a picturesque view!

By the time we arrived at the village, everyone is all psyched up and ready to hit the jungle trail to get to the water fall.

We reached the water fall about 30 mins later and what a sight indeed! Pristine and unspoiled, the pond at the base of the waterfall looks so inviting. Did not take too long for my colleagues to jump into the cold mountain water and started splashing – ah! This is the life!
