I was surprised to see a purple banana tree when I visited a nursery in BDC. I’m not into plants nor funny looking fruits. π This banana tree looks more for landscaping use rather than bearing edible bananas! (I’m more into what’s edible).
Lovely plant isn’t it? It’s called musa velutina, a native plant to Assam, northeast India. An ornamental banana with lush green foliage, featuring a striking burgundy midrib.

Taste Description – Delicious sweet small fruits. There are many seeds, but if you want to work and scrape the flesh off the seeds with your teeth as you eat it, you’ll have yourself one tasty treat.

Hi MyMalaysia,
I’ll skip the purple banana then by the time I scrape off the seeds, I’ll be left with a bowl of melted ice-cream π
Thanks for your input!!
