Spotted at the 3rd mile market recently, side by side, was a salted vegetable earthen jar and a plastic container.

The jar, for the longest time, is the unfailing multi-tasking container that is good for collecting sky water (rain), planter, umbrellas holder and these days, they are even painted and displayed as ornamental pieces in some living rooms. And to think, this humble jar is used originally for salting/preserving vegetables, now reincarnated in so many ways…

The plastic container, on the other hand, is the other generic container that is found everywhere. From keeping food to storing almost anything, sometimes even as a rubbish bin, this container’s main weakness is that it becomes brittle when left under the sun for too long.

Unless you are willing to pay for one of those anti-UV models that cost a bit.

Personally, I prefer the old jar …… a relic that refuses to go away……
