Nine on same flight with first H1N1 victim in S’wak
KUCHING: Nine passengers on Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH091 from Newark Airport in the United States, which arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Wednesday (May 13) are in the state.
Six of them landed at Kuching International Airport (KIA) while two disembarked at Miri Airport and one at Sibu Airport.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan who disclosed this yesterday said the state Health Department was trying to locate the passengers.
“Nine of the passengers from the flight are in Sarawak now, but this does not mean that they are all Sarawakians. All we know is that they boarded the same flight as the student who was tested influenza A(H1N1) positive.
“To be on the safe side, the Sarawak government is urging these nine passengers to report themselves at the Health Department for some check-ups,” he said in an interview.
While hoping that these passengers would show up at the department, Dr Chan also advised them to stay home and be quarantined.
