Cultural heritage project awakens sleepy hollow

KUCHING: Sleepy Siniawan bazaar, about 20 kilometres from here, woke up to a busy Sunday as the community prepared for the launch of the Siniawan Cultural Heritage Project.

By evening, the old bazaar was bustling with activities as visitors far and near arrive by the carload to witness the event at the empty space in front of the Swee Guk Kung Temple.

It coincided with the presentation of appointment letters to community leaders for the area.

Sarawak Heritage Society (SHS) and Wujiaoji (The Talent and Art Performing Group) initiated the project with the local community through the Siniawan Heritage Conservation Committee.

It is supported by BlueScope Lysaght (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd as part of the company’s social corporate responsibility to the community.
