We were heading out to Bau the other day and saw this pink-coloured stall by the road side selling lemangs (bamboo rice). This stall has the works of a serious lemang maker. A custom made stove ready to cook 20-30 lemangs at one time. Fire wood stacked on the side. Yes, their lemangs were delicious.

Bamboo rice is made up of glutinous rice, coconut milk, sugar and salt to taste. These days we even find black rice lemang, very nice too. Some people like to eat lemang with kaya (coconut milk ‘jam’), which is rather too sweet for me. So I prefer eating my lemang with curry 😀
