When the weather is this hot in Kuching… the next best thing to do is to indulge in ais-kacang or “ABC” (Ais Batu Campur direct translation “mixed crushed ice”)! “Mixed” here would be fruits, jelly, red beans, corns all in.

I had mine top with santan – who cares about cholesterol when the heat was getting to my nerve! 😉

I had all my favourites – the green jelly (chendol), red beans (angtau) and grass jelly (chianchow). This is for a friend in Denver, Colorado – Chad – how’s that ABC craving of yours now?? 😛

I had it during lunch time at open air market… surprisingly the place is quite empty during lunch hour. What surprised me more was that this place is pretty clean compare to last time. Mmmm…building up a new image??

Managed to squeeze in a trip down town before the rain sets in (again). It has been a while since I came to Electra House, India Street, Open air market and Gambier Street areas.

I didn’t really notice the old Mosque has a new colour until now! I think I still prefer the old colour of black and white.

More street signs for the tourists!

I wasn’t so sure about this road on the right… the arrows on the road keep changing every few months. So be careful when you drive to this area.

There was a bit of sunshine this afternoon and I managed to capture a few pictures of this old part of town. This picture here showed an old fire-station with its viewing tower. Imagine this viewing tower was once (upon a time) the highest point in the whole of Kuching for the firemen to see which part of town was on fire!!! Today it has been converted into an ‘open air’ market where you can find food and drinks stalls in side.

P/s it housed the best beef noodle in town!!!!

Coffee and tea anyone? Coffee beans ready to be grinded when you want to buy.

Some form of transports for the public…bus and van.

Notice the tree up on top of the building? Thanks the little birds that planted the seed up there.

And this is our Central Police Station with this little sign to say they care about the tourists that come here…wink…wink…

I don’t usually put up brand names like this (coz I don’t even get free fried chicken for promoting it!) – but this colonel food joint is one special branch – it requires customers to use sign language. Of course for me who lack this skill I just point to their menu what I want.

This lady was cleaning up the five-foot way before she closes her shop. Yup, she’s doing her part to keep the city clean! Hurray for her!!!!

Enjoy!
